What is stem cell research? What is stem cell research?. There has been millions of dollars spent on research on this subject. This area of investigation has been largely directed towards embryonic stem cell research. Unfortunately in spite of all this investigation, up to date this has not uncovered anything which is capable of use to improve any of our health problems. There has been no progress using embryonic stem cell research for our well being or to resolve the general deteriorating state of our national health. I do not wish to be the bearer of bad news, but we deed a better approach than using drugs because these all have undesirable side affects and believe it or not drugs do not cure anything. Heart disease is now becoming a common problem, I have heard people say "that's because people are getting older". OK, so explain this to me. The following is from an AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT PUBLICATION. "Diabetes is a common condition that can contribute to illness, disability and early death. Diabetes is on the rise worldwide. It has been estimated that nearly one million Australians have diabetes and about half of those are not aware that they have the condition. Diabetes and its associated complications, which include heart, kidney and eyes diseases, affect the quality of life of a large number of Australians." End of quotation. Australia has a total of 22 million people and has 1 million people with diabetes.--- How come? When I was young,(I admit that was a ling time ago) diabetes was a rare complaint, however now look whats happened. Luckily for very good reasons adult stem cells research is now progressing rapidly. Researchers using ADULT stem cells are now making great progress. These are now being widely investigated and are attracting a lot of attention because some amazing results are now being achieved.
